Barbara Kay Rider

September 29, 1952 — July 21, 2024

Marion

Barbara Kay Rider, 71, of Marion, Utah, passed away on July 21, 2024, at her home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. She was born September 29, 1952, in Heber City, Utah, to Newell Robertson and Erma (Carpenter) Gross. Barbara married her high school sweetheart Jimmy Ray Rider in Salt Lake City, September 30, 1970 just after her 18th birthday.

Barbara was an efficient and hard worker, she was loved by her employees and was certainly not afraid to jump in and help. Barbara enjoyed quilting and making blankets so much so that nearly every family member has one of her quilts or some other craft item she made. She never really enjoyed television, but you could always find her in the front room doing counted cross-stitch or other various crafts with the TV on. Barbara also found joy in the outdoors especially through camping and four-wheeling. She planned many camping trips every summer with family. She also had a passion for reading and would read for hours every night before bed. She did not always engage in the family activities, but she enjoyed listening and being around the commotion of her children and grandchildren which were many.

She will be missed so much by her family who loved her dearly. She is survived by her children: Trena (Jay) Bonde, Janet (Travis) Duncan, Samuel (Jesica) Rider, John (Andi) Rider, and Armond (Cassady) Rider; as well as her 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; her brothers Jim and Kim Robertson and sister Judy Gross. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Rider, mother, Erma Gross, father, Newell Robertson, brothers, Mike and Kevin Robertson, and great-granddaughter, Ciarra Kuhr.
