Brittany Quay

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Brittany Rose Quay, who left us on Friday, July 26th, at the age of 28 in Evanston, Wyoming. Britt was a light in our lives and a cherished daughter, whose love and presence will forever be etched in our hearts.

Britt was born in Schenectady, New York, and moved to Logan, Utah at the age of five. It was in Logan where she grew into the remarkable woman we all knew and loved, graduating from the Logan City School District with a spirit that was as courageous as it was kind.

Her life was a testament to service and dedication. Britt's heart was devoted to the life of a 1st responder. As a full-time Firefighter and Engineer for the Roy City Fire Department, Station 31, in Roy, Utah, she was admired and respected, not just for her exceptional skills and work ethic, but for her compassion and leadership that inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Britt's service extended beyond the ordinary. As a Wildland firefighter, she embraced the challenges of battling fires across Utah and Idaho. Her courageous spirit led her to confront some of the most daunting blazes, including the Brian's Head fire, with bravery and commitment. Each fire she fought was a testament to her resolute spirit and dedication to protecting others.

Britt's journey began as an EMT for the University of Utah Emergency Department, where she brought comfort and hope to countless individuals in their time of need.

Her academic achievements were as impressive as her professional accomplishments. She received a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Resource Management from Utah State University, earned with Honors. She was in the midst of pursuing another degree in engineering, supported by a recent scholarship and a desire for continued learning.

Britt lived life with a zest that was truly remarkable. Her love for adventure took her from the gym to the mountains, from hiking and biking to swimming. She reveled in the thrill of dirt biking, a new passion she embraced wholeheartedly. She was a varsity swimmer during her high school years. Her love for paddleboarding, jet skiing, fly fishing, snowboarding, and winter hiking kept her busy throughout the year.

The mountains were her sanctuary, and she conquered several peaks in Colorado with the same determination she applied to all aspects of her life. Her creative spirit was expressed through beautiful digital art and graphic design, adding another layer to the extraordinary person she was. Britt's adventurous heart also led her on a quest with her mother to visit every National Park in the United States-a journey filled with laughs, joy and discovery. Those will forever be cherished memories.

Britt's warmhearted personality made her a valued friend. She had a unique ability to bring people together for fun activities or exciting adventures. Her easygoing nature, coupled with her enthusiasm for new experiences, led her to many new travels and explorations.

She leaves behind a grieving family who will forever miss her: her parents, Richard and Paula Quay of Washington, Utah; her aunt Deborah Escobar (Quay) of Schenectady, New York; her siblings; and many beloved nieces and nephews. We find solace in the knowledge that Britt has been welcomed into the heavenly embrace of her grandmother, Rose Marie Quay, and her treasured 'Poppie', Paul Gundrum.

As we remember Britt, we hold close the memories of her bravery, her kindness, and the joy she brought into our lives. Her light was a bright one, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

We invite all who knew and loved Britt to celebrate her extraordinary life at a memorial service on Monday, August 5th, at 1:00 PM at the Roy City Hope Community Center, 5051 S 1900 W, Roy, UT 84067.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the Roy City Fire Department for their unwavering support and compassion during this incredibly difficult time. Brittany's legacy of courage, love, and adventure will forever be a part of us, and she will be deeply missed.
