Our father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on October 19, 2011 in Evanston.
Leo was born on March 13, 1928, at home, in Ogden, Utah to Leo Christmas Parkin and Algie Hatch Parkin. He was the baby of the family-having three older sisters. He was raised and attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School.
In 1947, he married Bette Mae Child. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union they added four children.
Dad started working for Utah Power & Light in 1948 and retired in 1985.
Leo is survived by three children: Brent L. Parkin (Maxine), of Park City, Utah; Stephen C. Parkin (Connie), of Las Vegas, Nevada; Denise Parkin Petersen (Ronald), of Evanston; seven grandchildren: Jason Parkin, Kristin Parkin, Stephanie Parkin ( Jeff) Smale, Jennifer Parkin, Gwen (Everett) Stiegelmeyer, Tiffany Parkin and Justin Petersen; three great grandchildren: Kaleb, Cheyenne and Clayton; and two sisters: Verda Reeve of Saginaw, Michigan and Maxine Parker of Centerville, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Bette Mae Child Parkin; sister: Barbara Schmidt and son: Alan Lee Parkin.
The family wishes to express thanks to the members of the Evanston Sixth Ward for their compassionate service. They also wish to thank the excellent care-givers of The Beehive House, Uinta Home Health and Rocky Mountain Care.
Funeral service will be held on Monday,  October 24, 2011 in the LDS Church, at 1224 Morse Lee Street, at 11 a.m.  Friends may visit at Crandall Funeral Home on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at 800 Uinta Street.  Online guestbook at crandallfhevanston.com.
